SENSORY-DRIVEN ENGAGEMENTS

Our Program

Sensory-Driven Engagements

The Montessori approach allows us to create engaging activities that residents find rewarding and empowering. People living with dementia can learn new pieces of information, procedures, habits and routines through the Montessori learning style.

“Joy, feeling one’s own value, being appreciated and loved by others, feeling useful and capable of production are all factors of enormous value for the human soul.”

Meaningful, Interest and Sensory-Driven Activities

Every day at Sundance presents residents with new and familiar activities to enjoy. At each table in the living room, residents can find sheets of paper with a list of hands-on events happening that day.

Community Roles

A resident's past trade or profession helps us identify daily roles within our community. This might mean that a former chef will help prepare meals, a former fitness teacher will lead wheelchair yoga, a former librarian will curate the community library or a former florist will tend to the garden.

Inter-Generational Care

At Sundance, we recognize the power of learning at every stage in life. We always welcome and encourage opportunities to involve children in our community, having residents help teach them new skills and participate in activities together.
